Definitum Wines was established in 2009, when the Carignan 2009, which was made from 27 year old vineyards, was launched. Each bottle of this exceptional year was labelled by hand; a process that is time consuming and labour intensive - but a path they chose, as to remember themselves that they started with humble beginnings – and a process which they did themselves.
Definitum’s Petit Verdot 2010 was launched in early 2012 and was indeed something special! This was such a huge success that the Definitum Petit Verdot 2011 was launched during mid-2013. This proved to be a huge success as well and Definitum has since then managed to attract a faithful following of wine lovers across the country.
The Definitum Cape Blend 2013, a blend of 5 different cultivars called “Benevolence” was launched in 2014. Only 2600 bottles of this exceptional blend was bottled.
In 2015, Definitum launched a Benevolence 2015 and a Bordeaux Style wine (Arbalest 2014). The Benevolence 2015 contained a blend of Pinotage (34%), Malbec (22%), Shiraz (22%) and Merlot (12%). The different cultivars in the Benevolence were individually aged for 5 months in American and French oak. It had ripe, sweet aromas of raspberry and complex undertones of plum in elegant balance and supple, rounded tannins.
The Arbalest 2014 was a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (46%), Merlot (31%) and Petit Verdot (23%). These cultivars were carefully selected to create a wine with intense spicy aromas, which was full and creamy on the palate and which had an elegant structure and balance. The cultivars used in the Arbalest 2014 were individually aged for 14 months in primarily French oak barrels. Both wines were sold out in no time, which necessitated the launching of the Arbalest 2016 and Benevolence 2016 sooner than anticipated.
Together with the Definitum Petit Verdot Reserve 2015, these three wines are currently available to be enjoyed.
